These kaleidoscopes are created in gilded brass. The material recalls the classical brass instruments of years ago like the telescope and the kaleidoscope of the 19th century in their most refined form. The universal philosophic instrument, as its inventor Sir David Brewster liked to call it, invites us to observe an at the same time observe our inner selves, just as it used as a cultural form of entertraiment in the drawing rooms of that time. Here we show some examples, from the delightful miniatures to the big kaleidoscope set.
