The material recalls the classical brass instruments of years ago like the telescope and the kaleidoscopes of the 19th century in their most refined form. The universal philosophic instrument, as its inventor, Sir David Brewster liked to call it, invites us to observe and at the same time observe our inner selves, just as it was used as a cultural form of entertainment in the drawing rooms of that time.
